Day 1 Edale to Torside 15 miles
Finally started my Pennine Way walk, accompanied by mate Lew who travelled up from Leicestershire this morning. Got underway at 9-50 after the obligatory photo shoot outside The Nags Head pub, the official start of the walk.

Official start. |
First steps taken, I say to Lew that its NOT raining, and that is the way it remained for all of our 6 and a half hours on the trail. Ok its certainly not going to stay that way for the next 17 days, but make the most of it. As I have walked this stage over the last few years it was a bit of an anti-climax, but still enjoyed a great days walking. I'm glad Ive finally got Lew to see why I love Kinder Scout, he was impressed, that in itself would have made my day.

First steps |
After less than an hour in, we met our first Pennine walkers, 2 ladies (Jill and Lorraine) who we had a brief chat with. It turned out they originated from North Devon, only a few miles from where Lew was brought up, they then said they now live in Leicester, guess where Lew lives nowadays, just a few miles from Leicester, yes, its a small world.
